SUMMARY OF POINTS TO MAKE

Mr Huang's visit a welcome contribution to growing Sino- British understanding. We hope to make a growing contribution to China's development plans.

2.

Hong Kong: our interest in continued co-operation with China to ensure Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

3.

Further visits: hopes for Sino-British visits at Prime Minister level. Enquire about Premier Hua's recent visit to Eastern Europe and Iran.

4.

Defence sales (defensive): we shall consider sympathetically firm proposals for defence equipment in the light of our usual criteria.
