Thank you for the briefing which you sent me with your letter of 6 October for the call by the Chinese Foreign Minister, Mr. Huang Hua, on the Prime Minister. The call duly took place at No. 10 on 11 October at 1630.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary and

H.M. Ambassador, Peking, were present.

17/10

I enclose a note of the Prime Minister's discussion with Mr. Huang Hua. I should be grateful if you would ensure that it is given the restricted circulation normally accorded to Prime Ministerial records. Summaries of the main points which arose may, of course, be sent to interested posts overseas.

I am sending copies of this letter with enclosure to Kingsley Jones (HM Treasury), Tom Harris (Department of Trade), Andrew Duguid (Department of Industry), Roger Facer (Ministry of Defence) and Martin Vile (Cabinet Office).

Yours ever,

будит волидам.

W. K. Prendergast, Esq.,

Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
