INTRODUCTION
From June onwards, the press have written copiously on the efforts China has been making to develop its tourist trade. They reported on the numerous tours China offered and speculated on improvements that were being made in services for tourists. They also reported keenly on the interest some Hong Kong developers were showing on the possibility of their building hotels in China,
The papers also commented on how these continuing contacts with China were
of benefit to Hong Kong.
This paper reviews press reports on these topics. A list of new China tours, and background notes to one of the major companies interested in the China hotel project, are to be found in the Appendix.
