people chosen have been expanded to represent wider sections of the community. Most of the CPPCC representatives are typical United Front workers: publishers, businessmen and educationalists. There were naturally more Party cadres as delegates to the N P C: six (including LI Chu-sheng, the Director of NCNA), compared with three among the C P P C C delegates.

One sign of increased United Front activity was the very caried range of guests who were invited to the TA KUNG PAO's 30th anniversary reception on 15 March. We have heard one report that a surprising number of the local Chinese journalists there were people traditionally identified with Taivanese interests in Hong Kong and that a tour to China is being arranged for a number of them.
