Development Co-ordinating Committee

Purpose

To review and relax where necessary the standards laid down by this legislation and to ensure that the number of child care places is not adversely affected by the implementation of this legislation.

Progress made and present position

On 18th January 1978, the Social Welfare Advisory Committee amended and endorsed the proposals of its ad hoc working group set up to review the child care centres legislation.

In the light of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee's advice the proposed amendments to this legislation were examined by the child care centres progress committee, on which the Social Services Branch is represented, on 20th February 1978. Drafting instructions are now being prepared.

services.

To process the necessary amending legislation.

To complete the review of the Rehabilitation

Programme Plan.

To prepare recommendations to create a Rehabilitation Subvention Head or Sub-head in the 1979/80 estimates.
