CPA services to Gulf area

Overflight of Indo-China

Purpose

To expand CPA services to the Gulf and support reciprocal Gulf Air services to Hong Kong.

To ensure that Amber One is reopened to international

civil aviation at a reasonable level of charge.

Progress made and present position

Next quarter target

DOT has decided that CPA could mount a fourth weekly service so long as the Bahrain authorit- ies do not object and so long as the service is not conditional upon Gulf Air services to Hong Kong. Since Hong Kong welcomes Gulf Air services and since the Bahrain authorities have indicated that they have no objection to CPA's 4th service, FCO has been asked to give clearance for the fourth weekly service.

Amber One was reopened on 23rd March 1978. Applications for operation of non-scheduled flights would be considered on a case by case basis.

To continue to press for additional

services between Hong Kong and the Gulf.

To negotiate a new scheme of profit control with the company.
