Increases in staff, Sir, are required for
another, excellent, reason to build and manage new
estates. Between 1973 and 1978, 14 new estates were
opened, providing 48,500 flats. The Housing Authority's
building programme is accelerating so fast that the
next 5 years will see the completion of 186,000 flats,
which is almost four times the production of the
preceding five years.
