PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION
for, ORAI; answer on 26 April 1978
HK+GD.
The draft reply should reach the Parliamentary Office through your Under-Secretary by
NOON ON WEDNESDAY 19th APRIL
1878.
Sir Paul Bryan (Howden): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, for how long the term of office of the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Murray MacLehose, has been extended; and whether he will make a statement.
Her Majesty The Queen has approved the extension of the Governor's term until August 1979. I warmly welcome this.
Sir Murray MacLehose's governorship has been distinguished by outstanding achievements in Hong Kong's social and economic development which owe much to the personal leadership and
dedication of the Governor himself.
