I have the honour to refer to paragraph (b) of section 19(1) of the Constitution of Bermuda and to inform you that Her Majesty has been pleased to give instructions that Gerald Lavid hartin Collett Esquire QC, Attorney- General of Bermuda, or, in the event that ir Collett is absent or cannot act, the Honourable James Astwood, the Chief Justice of Bermuda, is designated to assume and perform during Her Majesty's pleasure the functions of the office of Governor if at any time that office is vacant, or the persons holding the offices of Governor and Leputy Governor are absent from Bermuda or are for any other reason unable to perform the functions of the office of Governor.
