SYLVESTER GASTON : LETTER FROM MISS JOAN LESTOR MP

I attach a draft submission and draft letter for Mr Rowlands' signature in reply to Miss Lestor's letter of 12 January.

2.

Miss Lestor's letter was apparently acknowledged by Mr Rowlands' Office on 13 January (although we have no copy of the acknowledgement) and allocated to WIAD for a draft reply. WIAD passed the letter to me at approximately 5.20 pm on Friday 20 January saying that WIAD had only then realised that as the subject is capital punishment, it is for HKGD to take action.

3.

I have not cleared the draft with WIAD but will do so should you consider it necessary.

4.

Copies of recent correspondence with Miss Lestor are attached.
