Sear Sound Owen,
I am writing to you once again in connection with capital punishment, this time the case of Sylvester Gaston of the British Virgin Islands. We have recently learnt that Mr Gaston's appeal against sentence of death has been lost, and that he is appealing further to the Privy Council.
Since our previous correspondence on Bermuda, there would seem to be even more evidence for assuming that a commutation could be made as a result of an appeal on humanitarian grounds by HMG, even if on legal grounds no reversal is possible.
I would like to urge you to do everything in your power to help to prevent this death sentence.
