Thank you for informing us in your letter (PH 1709) of 1 September 1978 of the possible infringement of copyright concerning the Silver Jubilee stamp issues of British Antarctic Territory, Falkland Islands, Gilbert Islands. Montserrat, Pitcairn Islands, St Helena. South Georgia and Tristan da Cunha, in the production of "Zennor Rocket Mail" Labels.

I confirm that Mr Mitchell has not sought, nor obtained from this department permission to use the designs in question, and we would agree that action as suggested in your paragraph would be appropriate. Since, however, the designs of postage stamps of dependent territories are the property of the relevant governments we would prefer that the correspondence on this subject should be pursued with the Governments of the territories involved.

We should be interested to learn in due course the outcome of the action you propose to take.
