Numismatic Coins in the Dependent Territories
n Formell 30/6/78
Miss Farrell kindly sent Chalmers here a copy of your letter of 22nd May to Dependent Territory Governors and Commissioners commenting on the Bank of England survey on numismatic coin programmes. We have read the considered views of your Department with interest. Although these views by no means fully accord with our own, we can well understand the thinking behind them.
With regard to paragraph 5 of your letter, the Bank of England stand ready to provide advice on any particular problems that may emerge in individual territories. In the case of the Cayman Islands, you may recall that Tony Williams made some specific proposals in his
HK6 102/4 letter of 16th March 1978 to Dale of the West Indian and Atlantic
Department. These proposals are still under consideration in WIAD.
We look forward to hearing of any reactions to your letter from the other dependent territories in due course.
