nb. I outlined the outcome of yesterday's meeting to Mr Cortazzi this afternoon. Mr Cortazzi hoped that we were not intending to construct a new "policy" on the future of the dependent territories. In his view there was no room for a comprehensive policy; the future of each of our remaining territories would have to be decided separately on its merits. I said that these thoughts were very much in line with those expressed at the meeting.
