Please see copy of Mr Strong's letter of 29 November below (folio 35). I should be grateful for any comments you may have on the level of local and entertainment allowances, when these were calculated and how they compare with similar Territories and posts in the Caribbean. I am copying the letter to Mr Potter with a request that Grand Turk be included in an Inspection tour in the not-too- distant future.

2. I am surprised that a senior DS officer should resent 'financial demotion' (paragraph 6 of the letter). We all at one time or another go from a high allowance post to one where the allowances are lower. Mr Strong's predecessor, Mr Watson never to my knowledge claimed to be hard done by.
