I have the honour to refer to your letter XA 1/501/3 of 6 May 1975 and to Er Broadley's reply CP 821/23 or 30 september 1975 about the general level at which my approval is required under the provisions of Colonial Regulation No. 19 for appoint- ments and promotions in the british kutional Service of the lew ilebrides.

At present all appointments and promotions above salary level 57 are referred for my approval. This level has recently
