Thank you for your letter of 8 September. I enclose a list of senior British expatriate officers for inclusion in the 1979 edition.

2.

I would regret the suppression of the List, although I appreciate the need to trim the FCO printing bill. It is of some value in the diminishing dependencies to be able to address one's counterparts by name, A stay of execution for another year or so would seem reasonable.
