Thank you for sending me a copy of your minute of 25 January to Mr Alexander. I take it that the draft you are putting forward is the draft headed "Dependent Territories Senior Appointments Board HM Governor T & C Islands" and not the other draft minute which was probably an earlier paper. The first of these two drafts is all right by me in that it does not commit us to giving Mr Strong a firm undertaking and a date when he might move from Grand Turk to Grand Cayman.

Nevertheless, I should be happier if on/suitable piece of paper HKGD could reinforce to POD my view that two short tours in two different islands is not the best service we can offer and that it would only be in the face of a power- ful claim by Mr Strong that he was unhappy in Grand Turk that we would think of moving him.
