I am sorry my first contact with you, on taking over your new post, should be a request on a personal nuts and bolts matter, but perhaps you could pass it down to whoever it is in the Department who deals with this sort of thing.
2.
Earlier last year I had some correspondence with the Department about the delays in getting out to me my uniform. It eventually turned up and, surprisingly in so small a place as this, I have had to wear it a great deal the locals very much expect to see it. However, the kit did not include a cloak, such as my predecessors had. At first I was not too worried about this, and managed to shiver through the chilly onset of winter without it. This winter I have really felt its lack the only substitute I could find being a highly ecclesiastical-looking garb, loaned me by the local Monsignor. I frankly would not want to go through the rest of my time here without a more appropriate covering.

3. I am not sure if the tailors, Robinsons of Sackville Street, forgot to send the cloak or to make it. I shall be coming home on consultation leave in September and would like then, if possible, to arrange for its fitting and supply if I can have the necessary authority.
4. Perhaps we could have a word about this when I arrive, I shall be looking forward to meeting you to discuss some of our other "Colonial" problems which John Stewart had been looking into before his departure.
