ATTORNEY-GENERAL, HONG KONG
You will have seen the telegram which I sent to Mr Hobley in Hong Kong following our conversation on 15 September (FCO Tel No 704).
2. I attach a copy of a reply from Mr Hobley (Hong Kong Tel No 105). You will see that he has decided it would be best to come to London for the week beginning 16 October and has asked if an appointment with Sir B Hall can be arranged for 16 October. You will also see that he intends to telephone you tomorrow morning (today is a public holiday in Hong Kong) to find out whether there is a need for any more background about the job and the kind of candidate who would be suitable. On this last point you will no doubt be able to advise whether a more detailed job description would be helpful to Sir B Hall.
