Governors under age 50 special cases
3.18 In special cases where it appears to the Minister that it is impracticable to find appropriate employment in the public service for a Governor who would be eligible for a pension under this Scheme if he had attained the age of fifty, and that it is in the interest of the public service to grant him a pension under this Scheme the Minister may grant him such a pension notwithstanding that he has not attained that
age.
Death Benefits
3.19 If a Governor dies while he is a Governor the Minister may grant a gratuity of such an amount not exceeding 15,750 as is equal to his final salary, Tese the amount of any award made in respect of his death by the Government of the overseas territory of which he was Governor, to the person nominated by him to receive it, or (in the absence of a valid nomination) to his personal representatives. Only a husband or wife may be nominated for the death gratuity; and if the Governor's marriage comes to an cad before his death, any nomination he has made to his spouse by that marriage under this paragraph becomes invalid forthwith.
3.20 The Minister for the Civil Service may specify another sum for the purposes of paragraph 3.19 and where another sum is so specified the provisions of that paragraphi shall have effect as if for the reference to £15,750 there were substituted a
reference to that sum. The specification way he made so as to have effect from a Qule earlier than the date of its making.

3.21 Miere a Governor to whom a pension has been granted under paragraph 3.3 win before his appointment as a Governor employed in the home civil service or the diplomatic service the like ponuion and lump sum (if any) may be granted to him as if al the completion of that employment he had retired on medical grounds.
