Purpose
To relieve over- crowding at Victoria.
To construct a new prison
To modernise the prison.
To improve control.
Progress mado and present position
Completion of staff accommodation expected in June and the Reception Centre in August. Staff requirements approved in Dec. 176 for recruitment w.e.f. 1/1/77. Recruitment and training in hand.
Next quarter's target
Continuation of staff training
and planning to open institution in August/September 1977.
Preliminary consideration given to a possible To submit a paper to Executive site on Hei Ling Chau.
Council to secure approval of site.
Public Works item now Cat. Bl. Preliminary sketch drawings in hand.
Progress towards finalisation of scheme (Prisons/PWD).

amphetamines and mothaqualone into Part I, First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance has been published.
(b) The draft Ex. Co. Meno presenting the
amendment bill on the provision of seizure of travel documents is being considered by the Attorney General.
