Purpose
To update fire fighting policy.
To improve Fire Services Communications.
Progress made and present position
The draft Ex. Co. paper proposing a revised policy has been agreed by Fire Services Dept. and a final paper is under preparation.
Funds approved by Finance Committee July 7th. PMG has requested the additional staff he requires and has the detailed planning of the project in hand.
Next quarter's target
Paper to Ex. Co. in February.
1. PMG to continue the planning
of the equipment which will be required for the system.
2. Decision on who will be responsible for the maintenance of the system.

To reduce the hours of work/ duty from the present 72 hours per week.
To reduce recidivism.
To relieve overcrowding, and provide additional treatment facilities.
Fire Services Proposals are being considered by CS Branch in cooperation with Security Branch and Social Services Branch.
Application for creation of four posts of clinical psychologist with FB. ESC paper under preparation.
Present population of Hei Ling Chau Adult Centre is about 760. Additional hutted dormitory accommo--- dation nearing completion which will increase certified accommodation from 436 to 580.
A young inmates centre is being prepared following acquisition of
1. CS Branch to finalise
recommendations.
2. Proposals to be put to Finance
Branch.
Submission to ESC and staff recruitment.
1) Pursue action to obtain
further surplus Nissen huts. 2) Proceed with erection of the
huts obtained,
3) Action to obtain a Cat. D itom for repairs to pier as a short term measure.
