Dear Sir Denys,

As you know, my Committee has been working on an overall review of the Directorate, covering salaries, grading and conditions of service, and work has begun on drafting the report.

However, we understand that proposals may soon be put to Finance Committee for new pay scales for the rest of the Civil Service; and you may wish to consider at this stage, by way of an interim report, our recommendations for a revision in the Directorate scale, effective from the 1st April 1977. The attached chart sets out the figures.

Our full report will follow when ready in about two months or so, I expect, as members are taking their summer leaves.
