SIGNIFICANT FEATURES

50.

The restructuring of the Secretarial Class is a major exercise designed to give Government the kind of secretarial and typing services it needs both today and in the foreseeable future.

51.

A further aim is to introduce pay scales which give pay for the job, adequate career scales which will bear comparison with scales of those having broadly similar duties and responsibilities elsewhere in Government and scales whose maximum points are closely related to the median of pay of the larger, better employers in the private sector for work similar in kind and responsibility.

52.

Practically all junior ranks are receiving a significant increase in pay; Typists by one increment, at both the minimum and maximum, Stenographers by two increments at the maximum, Personal Secretaries by four increments at the minimum and two increments above the old maximum of Personal Secretary II (with Personal Secretaries I retaining their present pay scale) and Confidential Assistants by two increments above the old maximum of Confidential Assistant II (with Confidential Assistants I retaining their present pay scale).
