Dear Mr. Hurst
Hong Kong: Government Shorthand-
Audio-Typists Association
We have received a letter from Mrs. Matilda Cheung of the Goverment Shorthand-Audio Typists' Association of Hong Kong, which was established on February 4, 1977,
:
informing us of a dispute over salary structure and promotion prospects in which the union is engaged with the Hong Kong Government.
We understand that negotiations have broken down between the union and the Hong Kong Goverment and that the union has decided to petition the Queen and the UK Government. We should be grateful for all the relevant information you could send us about the dispute as it is possible that the TUC might be called upon to give some assistance. After a careful study of the information which the union has provided, it would appear that it has good cause for concern. It is to be hoped that the dispute can still be resolved reasonably.
Yours sincerely,
Allan Haugheques
Secretary
