Para.6(a) "S.A.T.s were not included in the equal pay scheme

bocause they were, in 1969, regarded as being already påid fhr rate for the job they were doing.' Your letter dated 5th January 1977 para.2 quoted: "Grades in what is now the Secretarial Class were excluded because they contained no male officers..

(a) It should be realized that the mentioned agreements, originally introduced by the Official Side and to your knowledge, were disadvantageous to the S.A.T.8. That is why the formation of this Unit of which our primary purpose is airing the past and existing grievances. The P.I.U. Report in 1976 of Secretarial Class on page 3 para.16 quoted as follows:

The Unit would also be pleased to receive submission as to how future reporta may be made more useful."

We do not agree that any anaalies were corrected at that time. (b) In 1965, the Salaries Corriission Report recommended that the

pay scale for S.A.7.s should be started at Point 8 to Point 16 of the Scale 'C' - S.A.T.s drew 75% of the pay as well as other fonale staff in the Civil Service. Even so, the S.A.T.s at that time with equal academic qualification plus professional training, vere awarded 5 points ahead at entry, and received equivalent maximum shen compared with the Clorical Officer II (female). The following chart tabulated the salary scale of S.A.T.s, C.O. II (nalo) and C.0. II (female) during the year of 19051-
