BRIEF
The Shorthand Audio Typists Association on
the 10th October 1977 petitioned H.E.
In anticipation of a negative response to their requests the Committee of the Association are planning to send in four weeks time, on 14 Nov 77, a delegation of four to London, ostensibly to petition HM the Queen but in fact to make contact with political and trades union groups they consider will help their cause.
The present Committee has, it is believed, sought advice from overseas groups through the more militant staff associations in Hong Kong and possibly through individuals who have the ear of some Members of Parliament active in Trade Union affairs.
The aim of the four going to London appears to be to establish useful contacts, attempt to be shown on T.V. as often as possible (handing in letters to prominent people etc.) and generally to obtain as much publicity as possible in the three weeks they will be there.

Pensionability for Married Women. Maternity Leave at Half Pay.
Between 1969 and 1972 Government introduced the above three measures from which practically all female officers benefitted except those in grades which later formed the Secretarial Class.
The reason for the exclusion from Equal Pay of secretarial and typing grades was that the grades had no male scales. It should be remembered however that certain grades without male officers or of which male officers formed an insignificant part were given the 25% pay increase which Equal Pay brought with it.
