37. A report by Security department on their check of the department's security equipment is attached at Annex D. We recommend that every endeavour be made to recover the missing pouch key and to ensure that such security equipment is in future recovered from officers before they leave the department.

Newspapers, Periodicals and Reference Books

38.

A list of newspapers, periodicals and reference books bought for the department is attached at Annex E. We recommend

(a) that only two English newspapers and one

periodical (of the Head of department's choice) should be supplied in future;

(b) that the following reductions be made in the

supply of reference books:

(i) Diplomatic Service List, List of HM Ministers,

and Year Book of the Commonwealth to be supplied in one copy each

(ii) Vacher's Parliamentary Companion to be supplied

in two instead of three copies.

We accept the rest of the list as necessary for the department's work.
