ADMINISTRATIVE, LEGAL AND JUDICIAL STAFFING UNIT

1. We have exchanged minutes (resting with my minute of 20 December 1976) regarding the need for adequate accommodation for the Administrative, Legal and Judicial Staffing Unit when they and General Section join Hong Kong Department.

2. In a recent telephone call you indicated that you are already giving consideration to a re-allocation of rooms on this floor in preparation for the time when Gibraltar Section joins Southern European Department. In order to assist you with your problem I thought that it might be useful to re-state the rooms which will be required for the Administrative, Legal and Judicial Staffing Unit, which are:-

DS 5 HMOCS Adviser separate office DS 6 Head of Staffing Unit

1 x DS 9 + 1 x DS 10, at present accommodated in K273A, and 1 x DS 10 Section Clerk at present accommodated in W81, to be accommodated in one room (ie, to integrate the Registry). The details of the furniture which these three staff will require to take with them are as on the attached list.

3. As you will recall from previous minuting we consider that it is essential that the DS 5 Adviser and the DS 6 Head of Staffing Unit both have separate offices since they are constantly having to interview senior staff and to discuss personal matters and their visitors would be inhibited should there be anyone else in the room at the time.

I regret that we still do not know when this Department will dissolve but as I have already told you I will let you know as soon as I have any definite news.
