90. In the afternoon of 8th July, 1976, following a period of surveillance, a party of Narcotics Bureau officers conducted a raid at 648, Block 7, Tung Tau Resettlement Estate, Kowloon, which was believed to be a heroin store. A search of a storage box outside the flat revealed a large quantity of No. 3 heroin packed in 5 ounce polythene bags. A further quantity of No. 3 heroin together with heroin packaging equipment, was found inside the bedroom of the flat. The total seizure comprised 9.0317 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 3.4672 kilogrammes of salts of esters of morphine.

91. Three Chinese males were arrested in connection with the seizure.

CHUNG Tin-yu (6945/1131/0056), CHAN Sik-fai (7115/6932/6540) and CHENG Hon-loy (6774/3352/0171) were charged with Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking. CHUNG was additionally charged with Permitting A Premises To Be Used For The Unlawful Storage Of Dangerous Drugs. All three were found guilty following their trial in the Supreme Court. CHUNG was sentenced to 10 years' and 5 years' imprisonment respectively, sentences to run concurrently. CHAN and CHENG were each sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.
