Mr Edward Lyons 20 (Labour Member for Bradford West) telephoned to let us know that he is visiting Hong Kong from 29 October until approximately 16 November. He is going to Ilong Kong to defend in the Ma case, the preliminary trial procedure.

Whitt in Hong Kong, he hopes to go into China; he said he met the Chinese Amba:i:: ador London at a reception Just week, and the Ambassador suggested that he look at Canton; and the London Export Corporation have suggested that he should see the Trade Fair at Canton. His arrangements for the visit to China are not yet firm, but he hopes to fit something in; he said he would not have time to go to Peking.
3. Mr Lyons said he did not require any assistance from our people, but would appreciate some briefing on the local situation if this couldbe arranged for him in Hong Kong without putting anyone to too much trouble. He will stay at the Hilton Hotel, he thinks, but said he can be contacted at the following address -
