Taken

1. Lord Goronwy-Roberts asked whether the reply to one of Mr Parry's PQs, that concerning the UK, Hong Kong and Interpol and drug offenders in Taiwan should have read "Taiwan and the UK are both members of Interpol".

2. Mr Macoun, Overseas Police Adviser, has confirmed that Hong Kong cannot be a member of Interpol in its own right since membership is reserved for independent countries. Hong Kong does have a sub-bureau which, in theory at least, comes under the UK National Central Bureau. In practice, Hong Kong tends to act somewhat independently, although this does not alter the constitutional position.
