MR FRANK HOOLEY MP's PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION ON THE LEVEL OF DRUG ADDICTION IN SUCH COUNTRIES AS KOREA, THE PHILLIPINES AND JAPAN

1. Further to my telephone conversation on 8 Februarywith Mr Callway in UKMIS Geneva, Mr Cecil rang me back on 11 February. He said that figures for the number of drug addicts in Korea, the Phillipines and Japan, were not available but that he did have figures for the numbers of arrests which were followed by convictions. These are as follows:

I said that if this was the best he could do, then it was fine. It did not, at this stage, look as if there would be any need to supply further information to Mr Hooley or to Ministers, but that, if the need arose, we could hardly be expected to supply information
