In March, 1976, WONG Kam-wah and three of his assistants were arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in a Dangerous Drug. WONG, who was a principal figure in the export of heroin from Hong Kong to Canada, was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment, whilst his assistants each received 2 years imprisonment.

In April, 1976, NGAN Ping-muk, a supplier of heroin to an American narcotics syndicate, was arrested at his home in Hong Kong shortly after having sold a quantity of heroin to a Narcotics Bureau undercover agent. He received 4 years imprisonment for Trafficking in a Dangerous Drug.

In May, 1976, YEUNG Yan-lok was arrested in Hong Kong in connection with the delivery of a quantity of heroin to an American narcotics agent in San Francisco. YEUNG has been charged with Trafficking in a Dangerous Drug and is awaiting trial.

In May, 1976, Narcotics Bureau officers arrested two major heroin distributors, CHU Kwan-kong and his wife CHENG Yuk-oy, and thirteen members of their syndicate. Evidence presented in Court showed that one member of the organization, SHEK Chee-wing, was engaged by CHU and CHENG as a courier of heroin to Europe. All three were found guilty of Conspiracy to Traffic in Dangerous Drugs (between 1968 and 1975) and were sentenced to 30 years, 30s and 8 years imprisonment respectively.

e) In December, 1976, CHAN Man-ching was arrested in Hong Kong

on charges of Conspiracy to Traffic in a Dangerous Drug. CHAN, a major supplier of heroin to Canada, is wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for drug trafficking. He is awaiting trial in Hong Kong.

In January 1977, LUI King, his wife AU Shun-ha and a member of their heroin export group WONG Kwok-hang were arrested in Hong Kong. All three, who are involved in the export of heroin from Hong Kong to Vancouver and Amsterdam, have been charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Dangerous Drugs. It is anticipated that the Canadians will request extradition to Canada. If forthcoming, such request will be complied with.
