25. In the afternoon of 15th April, 1976, a party of officers of the Yuen Long Special Duty Squad raided a farm in Kiu Tau Wai, Ping Shan, New Territories. An examination of the premises resulted in the discovery of a quantity of chemicals and equipment associated with the manufacture of heroin, together with a small quantity of No. 3 heroin. The following day the search continued under the supervision of Narcotics Bureau officers and further chemicals used in the manufacture of heroin were found. The total drugs seized comprised 459 grammes of a mixture containing 285.2 grammes of salts of esters of morphine, and 3.6 grammes of prepared opium.

26. Two Chinese males present on the farm at the time of the raid were arrested. Yan-wai (7806/3512/3555) and Ho Sam (0149/0005) have been charged with Manufacturing A Dangerous Drug, Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking and Possession of An Acetylating Substance. The third charge arose from the discovery of 11.565 litres of acetic anhydride on the premises. WONG and Ho have been committed to stand trial at the Supreme Court.

27. On 15th January, 1976, having received information from the Narcotics Bureau, Preventive Service officers examined 2 packages containing 584 surgical instruments which had arrived at Hong Kong Airport from Karachi. The examination revealed a total of 17.52 kilogrammes of raw opium
concealed in the hollow handles of the instruments.
28. On 6th February, 1976, Chinese male CHIU Hoo (6392/6320) was arrested when he attempted to take delivery of the instruments. CHIU was charged with Trafficking In A Dangerous Drug and is awaiting trial.
