FORMER POLICE OFFICERS - PETER GODBER AND ERNEST HUNT

The sum

1. Former Chief Superintendent Peter Godber was extradited from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong in 1973 to face charges on corruption. He was convicted of the corrupt receipt of HK$25,000 and was imprisoned for 4 years. The leading prosecution witness was ex-Superintendent Hunt. involved was paid to the Crown. While he was serving his prison sentence it was discovered that further sums totalling HK$4.1 millions had been paid by Godber into bank accounts outside Hong Kong. The accounts are believed to exist in Australia, Canada and Spain.

Former Superintendent Ernest Hunt was promised a complete amnesty in return for his testimony in the Godber case.
