This is to confirm my telephone conversation with you on Friday evening, 18 November, when I informed you that I had just heard from Sir Robert Mark that he was confused about approaches made to him by your department regarding Sir Murray MacLehose's visit to London and his desire to meet Sir Robert.

2. It appears that he may have thought that he was being steered off a meeting with Sir Murray. I assured him that there was no intention of any such move and that I hoped that if Sir Murray wished to see him Sir Robert would be available to do so. You undertook, personally, to put the record straight by telephoning Sir Robert.
