As to the possibility of transferring Mr Clements to the UK if he is convicted, provision exists (under the Colonial Prisoners Removal Act 1884) for the removal to the UK of certain categories of prisoners, for example, prisoners who belonged at the time they committed the offence to one of the Armed Services, or prisoners whose health might suffer if they served out their sentence in Hong Kong. However, Mr Clements does not obviously fall at the moment into any of the categories

mentioned in the Act and I am afraid it is impossible to say at this stage whether grounds for his removal would exist.
