Q.

Can you offer any reason why Mr. Lau should say he personally visited some of these establishments to give them information when they all had telephones?

When we received a telephone call we would inform the opium stalls by telephone but for the gambling stalls we would give information in person.

So gambling stalls had no telephones?

That I am not very sure. It was Ah Lau who managed this kind

of affair most of the time.

Are you saying Ah Lau is your superior?

Yes.

How long did you actively work for Ma Hak Shing collecting money?

A little over 1 year.

6-8 months in Kowloon City?

Yes.

ind about 10 months in Causeway Bay?

Yes.

Did you tell ICAC officers something different?

The

same.

You never told them you worked for Ma for several years?

No.

If you had that would be a lie?

I did not specify how many years I worked for Ma. When they asked me I said I worked several months in Kowloon City and several months in Causeway Bay.

You never told them that you worked for him for several years?

It is only a little over a year.- the total of the number of months I

I did not tell them I worked for several years.

worked for him.

What sort of work did you do in Kowloon City?

Usually there was a person who was responsible for collecting

squeeze money for him and I assisted that person.

Q.

Do what?

I was not familiar with the trade so Ma Hak Shing instructed me to follow him to leam.
