At Least 3 other station
sergeants have found not very long ago both
of whom were charged with conspiracy one of whom was serving his sentence. This may well have been preying on his mind. There had been restraining orders against relatives. He was particularly anxious his wife should heart disease. Whether
uct be troubled. He said it was because it was
it was heart disease or other disease there were many motives thy he was prepared to make up stories and on his admissions for 10 years he was corrupt and on his own admission he was prepared to perjure himself for his own protection. Alleged interview with 20 was a written
afterthought.
Another strange thing about his evidence is he did not give credible explanation as to what cause him to plead guilty and to disclose his father's estate really belonged to him. He said he thought 10AC would sooner or later find out. One wonders what did happen at one time. In answer to Hampton when referring to the speech in mitigation made on his behalf by his own Counsel, he said that he had been
approached by attorney General. That seems extraordinary that attorney General would have seen what was submitted and then approved.
This
proves that very comprehensive negotiations must have been going on.
Lau had been giving protection without any trouble. We get no explanation from him at all as to why he should suddenly see 20,an ADS. He said later when Chiu Tak arrived he brought him to see 2D and he seemed rather surprised when put to him Chiu Tek and 2D already knew each other. He did not seem to know that. I submit he made up his story for a purpose. He said that although he mentioned important things in the 3 tapes and the 7 years he had given protection to stalls was important. I submit that he didn't think that that part was in hic interests.
when cross-examined by flampton he said he knew Ng
For 7 years.
ik ho he knew who he was and what he was and i anled further and he said they were friends. He said he had been questioned by police about his association with Ng bik Ho but it has never been suggested he had aone anything wrong with Ng Sik Ho and when cross-examined by me he said he knew nothing about Ng's activities. Ng got the heaviest sentence that has been given to anyone since the war. His case must be very serious indeed. It seems strange if they were friends, an dxperienced Station Sergeant would not know anything about his illegal activities. He said he had an interview with 20 apparently there was no follow

no suggestion of follow up
