I do not know that I cannot fairly answer your question. Did your inquiries last evening reveal the ultimate source of the information was a witness in this case? This is where I am in difficulty. My information at that stage was not from a witness in this case. I said last evening this person also gave me the information. He knows the full background of this case.

i

Did you not indicate it would be easy for you to obtain the information?

Yes.

K

Information, rumour, allegation was the ultimate source a witness in this case?

My understanding of the matter is a number of communications took place between person who gave me information and person who is a witness in this case and probably that is how the matter began; but I have no direct knowledge of that. What is the name of witness concerned?

Lau Cheong Walı.

You say you have no direct knowledge of this. I take it you informed your colleague of the situation that is your cross-examination had been adjourned to provide Court with this information?

Yes.

Have you any reason to believe your colleague was lying to you or deceiving you?

None.

We can assume although you have no direct knowledge information emanated from Lau Cheong Wah?

It was more like conversation and deduction rather than information.

Q.

You mean it was information derived from an informal

conversation?

A.

I would prefer to say it was a reasoned deduction rather than information.

Are you saying it was incorrect when you said you had been given information?
