I am employed by Hang Seng Bank as an officer. I held professional qualification of Associate of Institute of sankers (London). For the last

years I have been working in bank and i am officer-in-charge of Bills of Exchange Department of bank. Up till 1973 when sterling area was

dissolved, 2 procedures for purchasing drafts through our banii, in one

purchase of bank drafts in 500 - resident sterling & and if we had to

buy larger amounts we had to resort to external sterling account.

Relating to external sterling transactions my bank would not receive back the drafts but were kept by the correspondent ban. Further with

regard to resident sterling account drafts were sent back to us with

the relative statements. (4 documents shown to witness). These documents

were vouchers relating to 2 drafts numbering from 2505) to 25034. These

were external sterling transactions. Dank would not receive drafts

bach. (xhs. FF115 ABCD). I have been asked to check my bank records in relation to issue by bank of bank drafts from beginning of 1971 in relation to drafts made payable to Barclays Bank: / 3.3... Cunningham, drafts made payable to National estminister Bank A/C 80690573, and Barclays Bank A/C No. 80292192, Barclays Bank A/C No. 40306916, Barclays Bank ...... winchester A/C A/G074923 and Barclays Bank winchester Current 4/0 30876550

from 1/1/71 to middle part of 1974.

found no drafts made payable to named payee six months prior to 13 July

1971.

(PF92 A to shown to witness). No other drafts in favour of m/ 40300916 Barclays Bank for 6 months before 5 r'ebruary 1974. (PP118 to H shown to witness). I have not been able to find any drafts in favour of National Westminister Bank A/C 8069573 for the 6 months

subsequent to 4/2/74. we have searched the whole year of 1974. Drafts

returned to our bank are dealt with by our book section. Looking at face
