I was formerly a police officer. Last year I was dismissed from police force following a conviction in the Victoria District Court.

I was convicted of offence that my income and property held were not in proportion to my official emoluments. I pleaded guilty to that charge. Immediately prior to plea of guilty I was given a letter of immunity signed by the Attorney General. I do not have the copy here. (Document shown to witness) This is a copy of the Attorney General's letter to my solicitors. The contents were explained to me prior to my plea. The original is in possession of the solicitor K.K. Chu. I have a photostat copy of the same but I did not bring it with me. It is the same as the copy here. (Copy produced as Exh. P95).

I was posted to Bay View Division as a Detective Sergeant in 1970. When I was first posted to Bay View Division I was the Assistant Detective Sergeant looking after Shaukiwan Sub-Division. I was on the CID side. As Assistant Detective Sergeant I was in charge of all the rank and file of the C.I.D. Duties performed by CID rank and file under my command I distributed work to them, detailed them to make inquiries, investigations made into crimes already occurred and for the prevention of crime. All sorts of crimes, murder, robbery, theft and snatching cases. In the sub-division, my immediate superior was Mr. Cheet ham. He was OC CID Shaukiwan. At that time Divisional Superintendent in charge of Bay View Division I think was Mr. K.P. Clarke.

In 1970 the Assistant Divisional Superintendent, Bay View Division was Li Kwan Ha. Shaukiwan is under jurisdiction of Bay View Police Station. After Cheetham retired, Yeung To In took his place. When Li Kwan Ha left I can't remember who took his place but I think it was Mr. Doolan. After K.P. Clarke left, Mr. Cunningham succeeded him as Divisional Super- intendent. (Points to 1st Accused.) Mr. Cunningham took over from Mr. Clarke, I believe it was in July, 1971. I do not recall that there was a farewell parade when there was change in command. is no need for me to come into contact with Divisional Superintendent
