We reiterate our view that the case of given a proper hearing, and believe that it is impossible in the pending court case in which he is the complainant, for all the relevant facts to be taken into consideration, because of the limitations inherent in legal processes. We therefore repeat that we should like to have the opportunity to place the case in person before llis Excellency.

With regard to the witness mentioned in our letter of 22nd March, 1977, our Ad-Hoc Committee has met him again and taken a statement from him。

This witness is an old man, and on checking his statements we found an inaccuracy in the dates given. While not doubting the truth of the evidence he voluntarily offered, we feel that the value of the evidence is reduced as a result of this inaccuracy. We are not pre- pared to offer any evidence which is not factually accurate, and we have therefore decided to withdraw this witness.

allegations of corruption against certain senior officers. justice can only be served if His Excellency will hear our submissions, and, if he is willing, set up an independent enquiry.

Hopefully, this would bring to an end a very distasteful matter which does not reflect well on the Police or the Government. Cases brought daily to the courts by the ICAC only assist in proving the credibility of
