Lot 88 and adjoining area' are more particularly delineated on Plan

Reference B.0.0. 2/4400/72 deposited in the Buildings Ordinance Office

of the Public Works Department, 9th Floor, Murray Building, Hong Kong

and the City District Office (Yau Ma Tei), 260-264 Temple Street,

Ground Floor, Kowloon.

Explanatory Note

(This Note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate

its general purport.)

Section 13 of the Summary Offences Ordinance, Cap. 228 prohibits

the making of noise at night andpiling on any public holiday, and

subsection (4) enables exemption to be made in respect of specified

districts or for specified purposes.

Kowloon Marine Lot 88 and an adjoining area are the Site of the

proposed New World Centre, in which there will be four basements

requiring an excavation over a large portion of the site at a depty

in excess of 50 feet. The proximity of the site to the sea will

dictate continuous dewatering pumping, and the nature and role of the

substructure required for the buildings in general and the basements in

particular will be such that its construction must be a continuous

operation.

It is expected that the substructure will take about two years to

complete.
