Explanatory Memorandum
This Bill amends the Interpretation and General Clauses
Ordinance to replace the present standard time and summer time,
which are respectively set at 8 and 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean
Time and applied to prescribed periods of a year, with a more flexible Hong Kong Time. This will be 8 hours or such other period as the Logislative Council may decide, ahead of Greenwich Mean
Time, for the whole or part of a year.
