Negotiations to obtain voluntary surrender of the private land are in progress but the institution of formal resumption pro- ceedings is recommended to avoid delays which may be caused by succession difficulties or absentee landowners.

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the lots listed at Annex B is required for a public purpose, namely phased improvements to the South Lantau Road (Stage IV), between Shui Hau and Shek Pik, Lantau Island, New Territories.

(The District Officer, Islands (Mr Victor YUNG Chuk- hung) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
