194 temporary structures (8 on private land and 186 on Crown land) used for domestic purposes will have to be cleared. These struc- tures are occupied by 129 families who, if found eligible, will be offered public housing, As there may be insufficient accommodation in Tai Hing Estate at Tuen Mun to house them all, either public housing elsewhere or space in a temporary housing area in Tuen Mun together with an ex- gratia building allowance of $1,000 per family may be offered instead, Families ineligible for public housing will be offered space in a temporary housing area in Tuen Mun.

Arrangements have been made for the pupils affected by the closure of the primary school to start the school-year in September 1977 in other aided-primary schools in the Tuen Mun area. Ex-gratia allowances estimated at $174,000 will be paid for the school, shops and workshops out of the Housing Department's Compensation Vote under which funds are available.

Negotiations to obtain voluntary surrender of the private land are in progress but the institution of formal resumption proceedings is recommended to avoid delays which may be caused by succession
