(c) the construction of a sewage treatment plant;

(d) the formation of sites for ice storage, a sand depot,

a marine filling station and a slaughter house/

abattoir; and

(e) provision for a car park and public open spaces.

The general location of the land to be resumed is shown coloured orange on the plan at Annex A. The Secretary for the New Territories is satisfied that the land to be resumed is the minimum necessary to implement the project. Compensation for resumption and clearance is estimated at $942,000. Funds are available in the approved project estimate to meet the expenditure.

5

The clearance will involve payment of compensation for fruit trees, pine trees, crops, and the removal of fences, pipe-lines, water-tanks, rubble-walls and graves, and ex-gratia allowances for poultry-breeders and cultivators.

6

No building land is involved in this resumption. However, seven temporary structures and two squatter boats used for domestic purposes and lying within the resumption/clearance limits will have to be cleared. The temporary structures are occupied by seven families and the squatter boats by two families. As no public housing is available in Sai Kung District, those families eligible for public housing will be offered space in a temporary housing area in the vicinity and an ex-gratia building allowance of $1,000 per family. Should any family eligible for public housing opt for resiting outside a layout area, they will be granted an ex-gratia rehabilitation of $5,000 per family but will forfeit priority for public housing. Those families found to be ineligible for public housing will be offered space in a local temporary housing area but will not be eligible for ex-gratia allowance.

Ex-gratia allowances estimated at $180,000, for the three boatyards will be paid from the Housing Department's Compensation Vote under which funds are available.
